AASL Idea Lab: Trail Challenge Reading Program: Home

Trail Challenge is a district wide middle school reading program, designed to encourage reading across all genres for all students.

Olathe Public Schools Trail Challenge

Olathe Public Schools Trail Challenge Middle School
Reading Program has been a Tremendous Success!

Trail Challenge is a district-wide reading initiative
created to build excitement and increase engagement for
reading at the middle school level

The Trail Challenge is a list of 16 student-selected books promoted at all 10 of our middle schools.
Our goal for students is to read as many of the titles as they can before March, so they can be informed voters in our district wide March Madness-style tournament. Each librarian tailors the program to their building's patrons through programming and activities.

We have been refining this program over the last 5 years.
